The 12 Inca / Andean Gods
The pantheon of the Tawantinsuyu (1438-1572) and the continuously-living Quechua-Aymara religion of the contemporary Andes. The first South-American surface on gab44 — closing the pre-Columbian-Americas gap alongside the Aztec module.

Three families. Cosmic Sovereigns (Viracocha, Inti, Mama Killa, Pachamama) — the withdrawn-creator who emerged from Lake Titicaca and walked west; the Sun-king whose sweat is gold; the Moon-mother whose tears are silver; the still-actively-venerated Earth-mother. Sky, Water & Staple Forces (Illapa, Mama Cocha, Pachacamac, Chasca) — the three-in-one thunder, the sea-and-lake-mother, the coastal-creator-incorporated-by-the-Inca, the Venus dawn-star. Living Land, Threshold & Shadow (Apu, Supay, Catequil, Coniraya) — the mountain-Lords of every Andean peak, the Lord-of-the-Underworld mistranslated-as-the-Devil, the twin-thunder-oracle executed-by-Atahualpa, the trickster-creator-chaser of the Huarochirí Manuscript.
Source-honest. Each guide cites the canonical Spanish-chronicle corpus (Cieza de León 1553, Polo de Ondegardo 1559, Cristóbal de Molina 1575, Sarmiento de Gamboa 1572, Garcilaso de la Vega 1609, Bernabé Cobo 1653, Guaman Poma de Ayala 1615) plus the *Huarochirí Manuscript* (c. 1608, the only surviving native-Andean religious-text in Quechua) — and is honest about the 1532-1535 Pizarro conquest, the 1572 execution of Tupac Amaru I, the 1781 execution of Tupac Amaru II, the *extirpación de idolatrías* campaigns (1610-1670), the 1545-1825 Potosí silver-mining that killed ~8 million indigenous miners, the contemporary lithium-and-copper extraction from Pachamama's body, the Disney-Emperor's-New-Groove commodification, and the political-contestation of Pachamamism.
Paired with sign + planet + chakra. Each god is paired with one zodiac sign, one planet, and one chakra. The 12 deities cover all 12 zodiac signs, all 10 planets, and all 7 chakras — the cross-links let you walk from Pachamama → Taurus → Venus → Root and back.
Cosmic Sovereigns · creator, sun-king, moon-mother, earth-mother
Viracocha (Wiraqucha)
The Andean creator-god who emerged from Lake Titicaca and walked west across the Pacific, promising to return. The pattern of the *primordial-architect whose work is complete and who has withdrawn*, leaving the everyday gods (Inti, Mama Killa, Pachamama) to run the world.
Inti
The Andean Sun-god whose sweat is gold and who is the literal ancestor of every Sapa Inca. The pattern of the *sovereign-sun-of-the-state* — the visible-radiant-source whose light organizes the empire and whose return at the winter-solstice is petitioned every June 24.
Mama Killa (Mama Quilla)
The Andean Moon-goddess whose tears are silver, sovereign of the lunar-calendar that organized all Inca timing. The pattern of the *lunar-feminine-co-sovereign* — wife of the Sun-king, mother of the dynasty, whose monthly-cycle is the rhythm of agricultural and ritual life.
Pachamama
The Andean Earth-Mother whose body is the land and who is still actively venerated through August offerings across the continent. The pattern of the *living-earth-mother* whose body is not metaphor — the soil you walk on is literally her, and the protocols for using ground are derivatives of that fact.
Sky, Water & Staple Forces · thunder, sea, oracle, dawn-star
Illapa (Ilyap'a)
The Andean Thunder-god — three-in-one lightning-thunder-rain whose mace and sling rupture the celestial-river to bring the planting-rains. The pattern of *the warrior-deity who breaks the dam to deliver the staple-good*, the violent-gift-of-life.
Mama Cocha (Mama Qucha)
The Andean Sea-and-Lake-mother whose body is every body-of-water from the Pacific to Titicaca. The pattern of *the primordial-aqueous-mother*, the lake-from-which-the-creator-emerged, the sea-to-which-the-creator-returned-walking-west.
Pachacamac
The pre-Inca coastal Creator-of-Earth whose oracle was so feared that the conquering Inca incorporated rather than destroyed it. The pattern of *the deity-of-the-other-pole* — the regional-power so strong it gets incorporated rather than absorbed, the parallel-creator-with-distinct-jurisdiction.
Chasca (Ch'aska)
The Andean Venus — the tousled-haired dawn-and-evening star who announces the Sun-king's arrival and accompanies the Moon-mother's evening court. The pattern of *the announcement-deity-of-beauty*, the page-of-radiance, the bright-star-before-the-sovereign-arrives.
Living Land, Threshold & Shadow · mountain-lord, underworld, twin-oracle, trickster
Apu (the Mountain-Spirits)
The Andean mountain-spirits — Lords of every major peak, still actively petitioned with coca-leaves and *despachos*. The pattern of *the living-land-as-distinct-personalities*, each mountain a Lord with its own protocols.
Supay
The Andean Lord of the Underworld — sovereign of the seeds-in-the-ground and the mines and the dead-ancestors, demonized by the Spanish into "the Devil" yet paradoxically surviving as the honored-figure of the Diablada-dances. The pattern of *the deity-of-the-below-world canonically-mistranslated as evil*.
Catequil (Apocatequil)
The northern-Andean twin-thunder-oracle whose stone-image was executed by Atahualpa with a hammer-blow because it had foretold his defeat. The pattern of *the prophet-killed-by-the-king-it-foretold-the-fall-of*, the canonical Andean shooting-the-messenger.
Coniraya (Cuniraya Viracocha)
The trickster-creator-chaser of the Huarochirí Manuscript — disguised as a beggar, his canonical chase of Cavillaca produced the offshore island-rocks of Pachacamac and the canonical-traits of every Andean animal-species. The pattern of *the trickster-creator-whose-pursuit-shapes-the-landscape*.
